Give the exchange some time

Akari opens up slowly. Questions about the work behind her camera draw quiet, precise answers; the exchange may become more personal with time.

Four questions about portraits

"What makes a portrait feel effortless rather than posed?": Because there is no single right answer, the opener makes room for Akari’s visual judgment.
"Which changes a portrait more, natural light or studio light?": Putting two kinds of light side by side opens a technical angle on lighting choices in her work.
"What do you notice first when someone sits for a portrait?": The detail she names reveals where her attention lands before she begins working.
"Which part of studio work takes the most patience?": A question about patience moves past the finished portrait and toward the less visible work that happens inside a studio.
